Amazon selling Black Friday to the Brits

amazon logo.gifAmazon’s U.K. store has unleashed Black Friday Deals Week in the U.K. offering “Lightning Deals” on limited numbers of select products.

“For many years, shoppers in the U.S. have enjoyed massive savings on great products as a result of the ‘Black Friday’ phenomenon,” said Brian McBride, Managing Director, Amazon.co.uk.

“Amazon is always looking to offer exceptional value for money, especially in the run up to Christmas, and will replicate that activity for the benefit of all customers here in the UK. There will be some fantastic savings on must-have items.”

However, despite their efforts to export Black Friday to the U.K., and strong demand for the products on offer, few other retailers have followed suit. Negative comments have plagued Amazon as restricted stock numbers has led to many customers being disappointed.

Will Amazon’s attempt to bring Black Friday to the U.K. change the way Brits shop? Probably not. Visa Europe forecasts Monday, November 29, to be the busiest online shopping day this year, with sales of $418 million expected on Visa cards across the U.K.

I wonder, will Amazon’s next step be taking Boxing Day to the U.S.?
