iAd brings in $1,400 in one day for developer

The Internet is buzzing with news of one Apple iPhone app developer's success generating revenue via iAds. While many applaud the iAd, others believe this is just a blip before the novelty wears off and fill rates rise.

Over at Mashable there's the story of Jason Ting, an app developer who has already generated almost $1,400 in revenue via iAds from his free iPhone app despite it only being launched yesterday. Ting told Mashable his app had been downloaded about 9,000 times.

With an effective CPM of $147.55, Ting is rightly elated. And who could sniff at a CTR of 11.8%?

However, he realizes that these sorts of rates can't last.

"I have a feeling that people are still enjoying the novelty of iAds," Ting told Mashable, "so I'm not sure if the high CTR percentage will stay up."

When asked which type of ads were served Ting said, "It looks like the only iAds that are currently showing are from Dove and Nissan," adding "I'm guessing they had pretty huge media buys."
