BuzzCity: Mobile ad impressions rise globally

Global mobile media firm and free games portal, BuzzCity, has released figures showing the number of global mobile ad impressions has risen significantly since the first quarter of 2010.

buzzcity.pngDuring the second quarter of 2010 BuzzCity found more markets delivered monthly traffic exceeding 10 million impressions per month - 44 compared with the first quarter's 32 - reports Mobile Marketing Watch.

Indonesia (52% growth), India (98%), the U.S. (62%), South Africa and Vietnam (273%) dominated the top five in terms of overall ad banners served, with Ghana showing the most growth over the three-month period with an impressive 654% rise in impressions. Another African country, Kenya, saw significant growth with a increase of 243%.

There's no doubt the Fifa World Cup in South Africa has had a big impact on the figures. BuzzCity says sports brands such as Adidas, Puma and Homeground all increased their advertising in time for the global football event.

Not all markets experienced an increase. For example, the number of ads served to mobile users in the U.K. dropped 17% and Canada 15%.
