MocoSpace launches chatting app

There's a new way for consumers using Android phones to connect: a chatting app from mobile social network MocoSpace. The company launched its first Android-based chat app this week, giving consumers more ways to connect with favorite social hubs and friends. According to MocoSpace's Mobile Social Graph Report, Android based access to the MocoSpace platform is growing faster than either iPhone or Blackberry access.

The app allows users to:

• Chat with friends in real time
• Upload/share photos in an instant
• View social profiles and comment on social networks
• Receive notification of messages

MocoSpace CEO Justin Siegel said, "We've really listened to what our users want in developing this application. We know that our users love to communicate, so we're committed to giving them the best mobile chat experience to help people stay connected and have fun on their phones."

A recent InsightExpress survey found that more than 80% of marketers plan to increase their mobile ad spend over the next few months. Only about 3% plan to decrease their mobile spending. Marketers are finding that ads in the mobile space can be hyper-targeted based on consumer profiles, location and interests. Consumers, for their part, note that they are open to mobile ads because the ads on mobiles are of more interest to them.

Although the MocoSpace chat feature is for consumer use, it is one more thing that can enhance a marketers social profile. Because it is available to social consumers and social consumers have shown a proclivity to share brand, deal and sales information with friends, the chat feature has the potential to increase sales conversions or even awareness of new branded products as consumers share the information through their mobile devices.
