Metacafe's Movies launch offers access to young demos

Young people love movies. Whether summer blockbusters or small indie flicks, go to your local movie theatre on a Friday or Saturday night and you'll see throngs of teens and 20-somethings looking for a good movie. Which makes the Metacafe Movies release an important place for marketers to be.

Metacafe Movies is primarily a content hub, filled with exclusive movie information and other entertainment content. The hub will utilize video content from professionally produced movies/film releases, video games, sports, music and even television to engage young adults; these consumers have a proven appetite for entertainment.

Why is that important to brands and marketers? Because kids like movies. The 18-24 demographic has money and isn't afraid to spend it, so brands in the entertainment space, even as 'just' an advertisers have a huge opportunity to engage and convert a group of consumers who have and spend large amounts of money.

"In today's highly fragmented media world, it's imperative that marketers connect with consumers when and where they're watching," said Mike Vorhaus, president, Magid Advisors, a leading research firm. :Our research shows that movie clips and trailers are among the most popular types of videos viewed online, and Metacafe's in-depth and exclusive movie content provides advertisers unparalleled access to the influential entertainment enthusiast."

According to Metacafe information movie trailers or clips generate about 10 million video views monthly on their site with movies-related ad revenues showing a 70% growth rate.
