Platform makes banner creation simple

There is a new solution on the horizon for marketers wanting to create display banner ads. Canned Banners recently launched in the self-serve space, offering marketers with small budgets the ability to create banners quickly from templates.

But banners are dead? Not so according to a recent Eyeblaster study. The research showed that, which consumers might not click a display ad, they are making more branded search queries after seeing a display ad. And from those searchers, many consumers are converting. About 20% of consumers converted from a search query after seeing a display ad.

The Canned Banner platform gives marketers the ability to choose from pre-created templates, customize the message and banner and then serve the campaign.

"Right now we're emulating what a business would receive from a designer or ad agency," writes Myles , co-founder of Canned Banners (via email). "That is to say, we send the finished [banner] files to our customers, and they are then free to use their [ads] wherever they choose. Our core competency is providing advertisers with top-notch creative that is fast and cheap."

The relatively new company is working with advertising networks and content partners to create a system where it is seamless to create the ad and then launch the campaign. There are also plans for ad testing so that marketers can figure out what message, call to action, image or other information will best appeal to consumers.

"Once [a marketer] creates and purchases a banner, they will be able to come back and make changes to optimize that banner further," said Younger. "Right now, there are a lot of exciting new technologies in the display ad market, but there is still a bottleneck when it comes to developing banner ad creative for the millions of small businesses that make up the 'long tail'."
