Which British political party website performs best?

It appears the Liberal Democrats have it, coming within the top 50. Their placing at number 37 in the Q1 2010 rankings is a huge improvement on their 333 placing in the previous quarter.

"Websites are usually the first point of call for citizens looking for governmental service," said David Eldridge, CEO of Alterian "The website becomes the organization's representation of the quality of their services. As such, it is imperative to create a positive experience for website visitors."

It's not even a close call as far as the next ranked political party website goes. The Conservative Party's website ranked 187th, way ahead of Labour's, which ranked 385th.

Social media is also being put to good use by those vying for election. Twitter, in particular, is hotting up with thousands of Tweets a day about the parties. As well as being a great communication tool, politicians can monitor trends on Twitter after policy announcements or speeches using web intelligence tools such as Tweetlection from Sense Internet.

Tweetlection tracks comments about the parties on the micro-blogging platform Twitter, and gives an overall view of which keywords are being used by tweeters at any given time.
