New SmartStitial ad unit released

There's a new ad unit on the horizon. Online video ad network Smartclip released the SmartStitial video ad unit this week, giving marketers the ability to surround a video ad with a branded message.

by Kristina Knight

"SmartStitials support interactive video formats and only require two standard assets from an advertiser - a basic background wrapper in a .png format and a standard video clip with no special integration required," said Jay Drago, chief operating officer, Smartclip USA. "Advertisers and publishers will benefit from the dramatic impact the SmartStitial provides to consumers."

The SmartStitial ad unit uses logos or branded images in a wrap format around the video ad, giving marketers a new way to present specific messages along with video content. The SmartStitial ad units 'float' on webpages so that consumers know they are still on the publisher's website and have not been redirected.

The SmartStitial units:

• Give marketers he ability to use existing content to create new ad inventory
• Give publishers 'invisible space' so that when there is no ad content, the consumer isn't bombarded with blank space
• Engages consumers by giving them control over the ad environment
• Offers rich interactivity so that consumers can click from the ad to various advertiser webpages including contests, offers and social pages
• Targeting: Marketers can choose from contextual, retargeted, behavioral, geographic, demographic or shopping cart targeting technology
