Twitter/4INFO launch Text-to-Twitter advertising
Twitter and 4INFO have joined forces to bring "Text-to-Twitter" advertising to publishers and advertisers who are seeking users to sign-up for their Twitter feeds via SMS.
Mobile ad network and text alert service, 4INFO, caught the eye of Twitter after conducting their own, successful text-to-Twitter trial earlier this year. In the month-long trial, brands sent advertising messages via SMS with the call to action being to follow them on Twitter.
The success of the trial spurred Twitter to team up with 4INFO and this week they announced publishers and advertisers will be offered the new service, Text-to-Twitter, reports MocoNews.
Of the six brands involved in the trial held earlier this year, all experienced an increase in Twitter followers. In the case of TurtleWax, followers jumped by a massive 3,033% while United Fighting Championships increased theirs by 2,001% and Microsoft Exectweets by 522%.
According to 4INFO's Zaw Thet, "It is easy to forget that Twitter is both a web and mobile phenomenon. 20% of Twitterers choose to get SMS updates, so it is only natural that brands are going to find a more receptive and targeted audience on mobile then elsewhere".
