AdMob develops new iPhone units
Later this summer Apple's iPhone will release version 3.0 and not to be left behind, mobile marketer AdMob has developed new advertising units for the popular device. The new ad units will be available starting July 1 and will include social, search and rich media applications.
First, rich media. There are two options for rich media: multi-panel and scrolling canvas. In the multi-panel offering marketers can utilize several calls to action, animation and deeper interactivity. In the scrolling canvas unit marketers can expand an ad to fit a mobile page without users clicking away first.
Next, the search units. Because mobile search continues to grow, these units will allow marketers to combine search and display efforts by adding search boxed to banner ads. In this way, mobile consumers can immediately search for a mobile site or get in-stock or product information.
Finally, the social units. To target the social consumer, marketers can use the social unit to link to branded pages on social networks after a click-through.
Can you get more from mobile ads? According to advice from AdMob, you can. Mobile ads should be placed so as to not cover areas consumers might be interested in or where users might randomly click without intending to click. Further, ads shouldn't be placed at a 'dead end', marketers much have a way to exit a screen for an ad to work properly and ads should not be refreshed more than one time each minute.
