Marchex to 'resell' Google's AdWords

Local search advertising company Marchex has been named the first reseller for Google's Adwords Authorized Reseller Technology Platform provider. As such Marchex will be the only - for now - authorized reseller for the Google platform. Many more companies are expected to qualify as authorized resellers in the future.

To qualify for the ">authorized reseller technology platform search ad firms must be established media companies who concentrate on selling search ads direct to small businesses; this market is quite open at this point because so many local small businesses don't understand search marketers and therefore don't try to run search campaigns. Marchex is the first to be authorized.

Companies wanting this distinction must have a platform that is compliant with Google's API and provide comprehensive reporting which includes impressions, click through rates and other metrics.

Why would a firm want to be an authorized reseller and why should a local business consider this type of advertising? First, authorized resellers offer local marketers access to the Google network, the largest search engine in the US. Google has a more than three-quarter market share. Also, PPC advertising is one of the best ad forms for marketers who want many metrics to track campaigns. For some marketers display, online video or social marketing simply doesn't provide the kind of metrics or results they want to see.
