Social network targets job seekers

Marketers are trained to advertise where the consumers are; in the online world, most consumers are on social networks and many more are surfing the job boards hoping for a better job and more money. A new social network combines these two fields, which could become a gold mine for online marketers.

The social network combines a social network for analytic professionals with a job board for both passive and active job seekers. Users can post resumes, network with other professionals and search for jobs in one place.

There are two distinct advantages to targeting consumers in the job market: first, many times these consumers are educated, which indicates a higher spending potential and second, these consumers may be more likely to be interested in the latest tech gadgets.

According to a recent report from ComScore, traffic to training/education websites saw a big spike in September. This spike in traffic is likely related to the 2008 election and to the emerging financial situation; because news organizations report many financial institutions were failing, many consumers began looking for a more secure future. This, in many cases, meant furthering their education, looking for work or gaining more work training.

"Careers services and development - training and education sites experienced a 21-percent increase to nearly 12 million visitors during the month," was written in the report.
