Ring up more deals with Mobile Tuesday

First there was Black Friday. Then came Cyber Monday. Now make room for Mobile Tuesday as a mobile marketing firm hopes to cash in on a traditionally slow day for shopping.

This Tuesday sees the launch of Mobile Tuesday, the brainchild of mobile marketing firm Mobigosee. Based on the fact that the Tuesday after Thanksgiving is traditionally a slow shopping day, the firm has rolled out the theory to include every Tuesday.

Mobile Tuesday offers will be presented to mobile users each Tuesday and will kick off with a launch across 10 cities involving radio, outdoor media and online.

More than 18,000 mobile users have so far signed up for updates, way beyond Mobigosee's 5,000 target. However, the economic downturn has seen many retailers and brand partners that had initially shown interest abandon plans to use the channel.

AdAge reports that the mobile marketing firm has decided for forge ahead with the launch with its remaining three marketers onboard - McDonalds, RedTag and Finish Line.

"Mobile is the natural next generation of shopping," said Tanya Penman, founder-CEO of Mobigosee. "We thought about waiting until next year, but ... our belief is there's a demand."
