Google launches AdWords for the iPhone/G1
This week sees the launch of AdWords for the iPhone and T-Mobile G1. Advertisers now have the option of displaying their Internet text and display ads on the iPhone, G1 and other mobile phones with full HTML support.
Google already has a mobile-specific ad service but the new feature means no tweaking of existing sites for mobile, as Alexandra Kenin, product marketing manager for the Mobile Ads team, explained saying, "One of the major benefits of platform targeting is that advertisers can now show their desktop ads on mobile devices and direct users to their desktop websites."
To target ads for G1 and iPhone, go to the campaign settings tab in your AdWords account. For the "Device Platform" option under "Networks and Bidding," select "iPhones and other mobile devices with full internet browsers."
As additional devices that use full Internet browsers appear on the market, ads will appear on those phones, too.
