Goodmail combines video, email
Could the new trend in email marketing be video? With consumers logging on day after day to find new video clips they like, it could, and one email platform has found a way to insert video into email messages. Goodmail Systems has found a way to insert and play videos from an email messages.
Until this, email messages could only point consumers to another website where the video was embedded.
The Certified Video platform, to be launched in 2009, changes things. Although it will be of the most use to television networks or movie studios, the platform allows video clips to be embedded into an email. From there, the studios or networks can send the emails to their consumer list. The emails can also include incentives - coupons for movie theater snacks, details about an upcoming show/DVD release or even allow consumers to print movie tickets from the email.
The platform will officially launch in 2009. Yahoo, AOL, Cox, Comcast and several other media companies have signed on to partner with the system.
According to the comScore Video Metrix more than 13 billion videos were viewed online in October of 2008; that is a 45% increase year over year, and a huge reason for marketers to jump on the video bandwagon.
