Survey: SEO, site search and email are top business tools
A huge majority of retailers across the globe rank email, search engine optimization and site search as the most important ecommerce tools that help promote their businesses, finds search services provider SLI Systems.
Ninety percent of those surveyed for SLI Systems' 2008 "Trends in E-commerce" survey ranked email, SEO and site search as the top e-commerce technologies with 87% currently employing said tools. Furthermore, 93% of businesses believe SEO will become an increasingly effective medium in the next three years.
"Adopting proven technologies that can guide shoppers to a merchant's site in the bustling world of e-commerce will enable retailers to deliver a better customer experience and ensure the holidays are fruitful," said Shaun Ryan, SLI System's CEO.
Nearly half of those polled (47%) plan to implement social media strategies within the next year and 32% are planning to use online video.
However, with marketing budgets being trimmed, many marketers are focusing on those activities that are more results-driven.
