Study: Consumers use mobiles, smart phones more
Consumers are increasing their mobile adoption by a 50% margin according to a new report from Azuki Systems. Researchers found that 54% of consumers report increasing their mobile usage by more than 25% and 25% reported increasing their usage by more than 50%.
This news shouldn't be surprising to marketers, especially with the launch of so many smart phones; what is interesting is what consumers want: easier access to the Internet (80%) and easier access to rich media (80%). These two statistics point out two areas marketers should be locking in on.
"The mobile experience is getting better with access to more content, and mobile adoption is growing at a rapid speed," said Jim Ricotta, CEO of Azuki Systems. "However. . .Mobile requires a different consumption and interaction model where, unlike the desktop, it is less about browsing and more about glancing to 'snack' on media."
Some more interesting findings are that 33% of consumers talk via mobile at least 10 hours each week and that 79% send text messages. Of that 79%, nearly 30% report texting for roughly two hours weekly. Consumers are also accessing email (50%), the web (52%) and accessing video and social networks (25%) via their mobiles.
