Mom Central: Mom Bloggers powerful yet maverick

There's a powerful force moving among online blogs, a group with the ability to influence others and build strong brand awareness. Who are they? They are Mom Bloggers and Mom Central Consulting has just released the results of a survey that show just how powerful this online group can be and how companies are beginning to take notice.

With around 75 million Moms in the U.S. spending approximately two trillion dollars each year, it's a target audience that companies are slowly catching on to.

One clear message from the Mom Central Consulting survey found was that Moms love to hear recommendations from other Moms - a massive 96% of the 800 or so Moms (495) and Mom Bloggers (300) surveyed said so.

According to the survey, titled 'Illuminating the Power of Mom Bloggers', over 78% of Mom Bloggers review products and services. They are looked to by hoards of other Moms, 94%, to make a purchasing decision.

Companies can tap into the Mom Blogosphere by encouraging reviews from Mom Bloggers or seeking their opinions. This is already catching on with the press, with almost 40% of Mom Bloggers having been approached as a resource for a journalist or article writer.

"For many brands, tapping the social media power of Mom bloggers remains untested waters," said Stacy DeBroff, founder of Mom Central Consulting. "This powerful and yet maverick group proves extremely persuasive when enthusiastic about products and companies, and equally prickly when approached the wrong way."
