Politico.com targets wealthy through ad network

Luxury brands will want to investigate a new advertising network from Politico.com. The political news hub has launched a vertical advertising network targeted the affluent, well educated, political consumers.

With the election only a few months away, traffic to the site is likely to see a big surge as politically minded consumers log on to get the latest new on both sides of the big tickets.

Adify is powering the advertising network; some publishing partners include The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Denver Post and The Plain Dealer (from Cleveland, Ohio).

As the Internet continues to grow and consumers become more and more immune to ads, vertical advertising networks are becoming more important. These networks connect marketers with an engaged consumer base; the consumers are getting the content they crave and advertisers have a better chance of appealing to an already engaged consumer. The key is the content.

Politico.com is one of the first multi-platform news sources for politically minded consumers. According to company information, more than 2 million consumers logged on to the website each month in 2007. So far in 2008, the site is logging almost 6 million unique visitors monthly.
