FrameMedia adds ads, news to photo loops
You've probably seen by now the digital photo frames that friends and family are adding to their computers. FrameMedia is adding a little something extra to those loops and marketers should pay close attention. FrameMedia is one arm of Interpublic's Initiative; they are adding content and ads to the picture loops.
The ads run alongside a ticker and other content.
The frames run with a wireless Internet connection which allows consumers to find the latest news headlines and stock quotes; the content and ads cycle on the screen. Content takes the top slot, banners along the bottom are filled in with image rotation. In the future, the team plans to add in weather and sports information.
Currently, though, consumers can choose from different content channels - like Entertainment or Lifestyle. Brand can create their own content channels, too. Snapple has done this and offers their "Real Facts" ad snippets that cycle through the frame. The media suite is completely opt-in on the part of consumers.
Will they log on? Chances are, yes. With so many consumers dependent on their computers for work, a photo frame, these are about computer screen sized, allows them to concentrate on the work at hand rather than flipping through several different windows to stay caught up on the latest information. With ads served to the consumer through the frame, it could become a good investment.

What a great idea! I'm a huge FrameChannel fan, and have been for over a year now. Any business smart enough to run an ad this way will get my money.
