Olympic site most visited from within China
China takes gold for the greatest number of visitors to the official Beijing Olympics website during the first few days of the event, according to recent research from comScore.
Just over a quarter of all visitors to the official Olympics website, Beijing2008.cn, came from China. That figure of 25.7% represents around 4.3 million unique visitors, according to comScore.
Visitors from the U.S. were the next largest group at 24.8%, followed by Canadians (5.7%), British (5.2%) and Australians (2.8%).
“It’s exciting to see that the official Chinese Olympics site was built in a variety of languages so as to attract visitors from across the globe,” said comScore chairman Gian Fulgoni. “Once again the Internet, like the Olympic Games itself, shows that we are truly becoming a world without borders.”
The Asia-Pacific region was the source of most visitors to the site with 7.5 million (45.4%), followed by North America with 5 million (30.5%), and Europe with 2.7 million (16.3%).
