WinBuyer Launches Competitive Pricing Platform

If you have an ecommerce site you know how important it is to have competitive pricing. It isn't hard to figure out competitive pricing but it can be hard to show consumers just how competitive your pricing is. A new platform from WinBuyer could change that.

winbuyer.gifThe platform allows etailers to display accurate information about product pricing on various sites so consumers can see which etailer has the best pricing. This can change browsers to buyers.

“While larger ecommerce sites provide competitive product pricing information, no one enables smaller retailers to benefit from the same strategy on their own ecommerce sites,” said Dan Clarke, chairman of WinBuyer. “Online shoppers often make purchase decisions based on price comparisons. With WinBuyer’s technology, it is now easy for any merchant, regardless of size, to deploy precise competitive pricing information on their site, positioning core products as the low cost leader, turning browsers into buyers, and generating click-through revenue.”

Online shopping continues to grow in the US. According to a forecast from Forrester Research, online shopping will reach $335 billion by 2012. By having competitive product pricing displayed throughout a shopping site, etailers can enhance their profile with shoppers who want the lowest prices for certain goods.

Sounds like a good idea, but I'd be interested to see if this "widget" actually lowers the host site's conversions, since many buyers are known to pay more for the confidence and familiarity they have already established with a larger retailer.
