e-bit: Brazil's e-commerce revenues quadruple
The majority of Brazil’s population isn’t online, but those that do have a connection are making the most of it, much to the delight of online retailers.
Brazil has the most Internet users of all South American countries, according to a 2007 comScore report, albeit the 15.8 million users account for only around 11% of the country’s population.
Those Brazilians that are lucky enough to have an Internet connection are doing as much as they can online. A new report from e-bit found that e-commerce is a growing online activity, reports eMarketer.
‘Web Shoppers’, the Spanish-language report recently released by e-bit, found that Brazilian e-commerce revenues have quadrupled in the three years to 2008 to reach $2.2 billion. That's not surprising when you consider that the number of online shoppers in Brazil has also sky-rocketed to 9.5 million from 2003’s figure of 2.6 million.
