Are e-newsletters yesterday’s news?
Apparently not. Just this week, Glam Media embarked upon a comprehensive e-newsletter program, Glam Today.
It’s been a while since e-newsletters hit the news, but this week sees the launch of Glam Media’s offering – Glam Today. In the brave new world of Web 2.0 it’s usually a new blog or social network that hits the headlines.
But e-newsletters are underrated and becoming increasingly under-used. There exists long-standing e-newsletters that have thrived for years, especially in the women’s interest market, such as Ideal Bite, DailySugar and DailyCandy. Their constant stream of new, fresh and relevant content keeps their audience engaged and in-the-know.
The benefits to the Glam Media network will be the added channel for advertising plus the bringing together of all their sites such as SimplyRecipes.com, BagSnob and Shake Your Beauty.
“It's actually a bit surprising that Glam hasn't launched something like this before: for the parent company, it's another outlet for ads, and for sites in the Glam network, it's more exposure, as well as (maybe) the cozy feeling that they're part of something more than a plain old ad network,” commented Caroline McCarthy in her recent CNET article on the topic.
