U.K. blogs attract record numbers
The U.K. is way ahead of the U.S. in terms of visits to weblogs which last week hit an all time high, as Hitwise’s recent study results show.
One in every 84 Internet visits in the U.K. involves a visit to a blog or personal website. That’s 1.19% of all U.K. Internet traffic, according to Hitwise.
While it isn’t the most popular type of Internet destination, second to news and media websites, it has certainly seen the largest growth over the last few years.
Over the last three years, U.K. traffic to blogs and personal websites has risen by 208%, compared to 70% for news and media. The market share of blogs is greater in the U.K. than in the U.S., 1.09% and 0.73% respectively.
“Assuming nothing changes in the near future, we may now be in store for several straight weeks or months of blog-related record-breaking,” commented WebProNews staff writer Doug Caverly. “Companies not already catering to the UK (or at least not keeping a well-updated UK blog) may become more inclined to do so, and overall AdSense earnings in the region might grow a little bit.”
