Mobixell: Mobile users will trade ads for content

Here is another reason for mobile content providers to team up with advertisers: according to a recent Mobixell report mobile consumers are likely to accept content supported by ads as long as the price is right. What should that price be? Free or nearly free, according to the report.

mobixell.gifAccording the Mobixell, mobile users between the ages of 16 and 35, the most content hungry mobile demographics, want mobile content. They want videos, they want news and they want entertainment.

Roughly 35% of those surveyed said they want that content to be free or as cheap as possible. Another 29% said they same thing for mobile video - as long as it was free or nearly free, they would accept ad-supported content. To that end, they are willing to watch ads or receive SMS messages so that the content they crave is sent as cheaply as possible.

This information hungry group of consumers is also most likely to have a little more expendable cash, especially those under the age of 30.

For marketers, mobile is still relatively untried. Though some marketers have logged on to the mobile space or have flirted with SMS or MMS messaging many are still not investing a lot of money in mobile. This makes the mobile space even more lucrative because with fewer marketers in the mobile space, it isn't as cluttered, making it simple for users to lock in on a brand.
