comScore: 2 billion videos viewed in February

Online video just gets more popular with consumers. According to a new comScore report, 23 million French consumers watched 2 billion online videos during the month of January. That is 79% of the total French online population.

comscore.gifGoogle websites, including YouTube, grossed the highest number of videos watched. Google sites hold a 28.8% share of the video market in France, however, this is the lowest share Google has shown in the video metrix. The video metrix includes five European countries; all of those countries show a higher share for Google sites.

What does this mean? Perhaps it is simply that French consumers are more willing to look outside the box for entertaining content.

According to the report, a French video sharing site, holds a 16.8% share and holds the second position for most videos viewed. Groupe TF1 Sites hold a 1.9% share. Iliad/ sites have a 0.6% share.

How many video clips are French consumers viewing? The report shows that, on average, French users are watching 89 videos each. On Google sites, users averaged 49 videos each and on DailyMotion sites viewers watched 34 videos per person. Altogether, French users watched more than 140 hours of online video during the reporting period.
