Top executives turning to Internet

An in-depth study of America’s business elite has revealed they are increasingly turning to the Internet for news and information, especially on blogs and in podcasts or video.

While top executives remain heavy users of traditional media such as television and newspapers, an in-depth study by Ipsos MediaCT has revealed that many are also now turning to the Internet.

Much of the content viewed by top executives is news-oriented but they are increasingly viewing blogs (30%) and even contributing (4%).

Other findings from Ipsos MediaCT’s “Business Elite Study” include:

- 72% think a business publication’s website is an essential component.

- 72% agree that being “tech savvy” is key business success.

- 57% shop online for products and services.

- 49% have streamed or watched broadband videos on their computer.

“Looking at the sources they turn to first for help in business, we see that the Internet and business magazines lead as the main source for C-suite executives,” states the study, adding, “However, there are healthy percentages for national newspapers and local papers. For their main sources of business information, responses are more dispersed, with the same sources leading, along with the addition of cable TV.”
