Consumers go online for Mother's Day gifts
Mother’s Day is round the corner and Brand Keys is on the case when it comes to who’s buying what and where.
As part of Brand Keys’ “Customer Loyalty Engagement Index” 1,200 men and women were surveyed and asked if they planned to celebrate Mother’s Day. Ninety percent said they would.
Gifts were the order of the day amongst respondents, the most popular being cards, flowers, gift cards and jewelry. Dining out for brunch, lunch or dinner were also high on the list.
Convenience, choice and rising gas prices mean more consumers plan to purchase their gifts online this year than last – up 6% to 20% - and the number planning to shop at department and specialty stores dropped by 4% apiece.
When it comes to who spends the most on Mother’s Day gifts, the men are ahead spending around $60 more than the average woman’s spend of $110.
