Survey: Half of US companies could go virtual
Thanks to the Internet many US businesses are considering going completely virtual in the near future. The biggest reason seems to be the incredible growth of ecommerce over the past few years.
"In today’s global economy, it is becoming increasingly important for everyone to stay connected with their enterprise partners. What surprised us the most was the overwhelming number of executives who wanted to go completely virtual in next five years,” said Brian Tervo, president and CEO of TIE Commerce.
More than half of the C-level executives who responded said they had considered going virtual within the next five years. Just over 80% of respondents said they understood the advantages of ecommerce but they were concerned with online security (60%) or concerned with the cost of going completely virtual (30%).
One area that could become the deciding factor as far as businesses are concerned is Software as a Service (SaaS). SaaS can take some of the pressure off of a company considering a virtual move because once it is complete, the business owners only need to be concerned with their business and not the infrastructure of their web or ecommerce site. Jut over 83% of survey respondents said that their online comfort level was a big factor in their decision to go or not to go completely virtual.
