Spell checked you're sight recently?
If your website is constantly being updated with new copy it can be hard to keep tabs on the accuracy of spelling, and a few too many typos can turn off consumers.
At various stages of a piece of copy’s development and completion it is checked for spelling mistakes, be it by automatic spell checkers in word processors or manually by a proof reader.
Despite these checkpoints, spelling mistakes continue to make it onto web pages and they stick out like a “soar” thumb. In particular, websites with a large amount of dynamic content can find it hard to keep up, with content flowing in from a multitude of sources.
That’s where a new service, currently in registration-only beta, could prove effective and give publishers peace of mind. Spellr.us intends to offer a spelling monitoring service whereby websites are checked hourly, daily or weekly. Visual reports will be provided showing errors marked with strikethroughs and it is thought that the service would cost upwards of $50 per month.
“This space is still in its infancy, but I can imagine that these services will be a boon to bloggers and other website publishers,” comments blogger Jason Kincaid in a recent TechCrunch post.
