Nielsen reports on U.S. Internet usage
New data from Nielsen reveals interesting data about America’s online population of over 200 million Internet users.
Internet usage data from Nielsen Online found that among the 221 million at-home and at-work users in the U.S., the average time spent online (at PCs) was 19 hours and 42 minutes during the month of March. This average is up slightly from 17 hours and 38 minutes the previous month.
Slightly fewer than 165 million were deemed “active users” of which the majority (51.3%) was women. Overall men spent more time at their PCs than women, logged more online sessions and visited more web pages.
Other findings include:
- An average of 52 seconds was spent on each web page visited, down 1 second from February.
- The number of active users rose slightly by 1.4% from 162.3 million in February.
- The number of web pages viewed per person rose 2.8% from 2,370 to 2,437.
