Amobee partners with QuickPlay for mobile video ads
Add another provider to the growing list of those providing mobile video advertising clips to mobile users. This week Amobee, a mobile ad solutions provider, and QuickPlay, a mobile video solution company, partnered to provide mobile video ads to consumers.
"Service providers are looking at new ways to stimulate mobile video demand,” said Wayne Purboo, president and CEO of QuickPlay Media. “Clearly, advertising will be a large part of the business model for mobile media and we, together with Amobee, look forward to further lowering the barrier to entry for consumers to enjoy mobile video services.”
The platform offers advertisers the ability to create, which are sourced through Amobee. The ads are targeted according to user profiles and contextual information. QuickPlay's streaming technology will power the ad solution, offering spots between three and five seconds in length to run both pre- and post-roll.
The first cellular provider to sign on was Vodaphone Italy; they utilized the service as part of their FreeVideo platform. This gives mobile subscribers free access to local and branded video content by watching mobile ads.
Amobee and QuickPlay are currently in talks with other mobile carriers globally.
In the US, mobile video has been slow to catch on, primarily because of cost according to research. Only about 5% of American cell users claim to have watched mobile video. However, with more offerings and competitive, sometimes free, pricing the use of mobile video is expected to rise sharply over the next few years.
