Yahoo intro's new video ad formats
The video advertising market is growing, and so is the number of video ad formats being offered by Yahoo.
The amount of money being spent on video ads, while not minute at $750 million, remains a fraction of the online ad spend in the U.S. in 2007, which stood at around $20 billion.
But, as advertisers embrace rich media and technology improves, online video advertising is set to boom. Accordingly, Yahoo bolstered its offerings with the $160 million aquisition of ad technology firm Maven Networks last month, and this week they have announced more video ad formats to offer advertisers.
On offer will be live feed Flash video ads that run inside the video player but on top of the content, three-second on-launch bumpers that transform into banner ads placed atop the video window and clickable ads launching interactive transparent messages over the video programming.
The new video ad formats have now been made available throughout the United States on all videos within the portal's network.
