1 in 3 videos viewed on YouTube
YouTube continues to hold on to the top spot for American video downloads. According to the latest information from comScore, YouTube accounted for 1 in 3 video downloads in the US during January.
Nearly 10 million videos were downloaded in the US throughout the month. With one-third of those downloads, YouTube seems to be firmly in the driver's seat for video viewing with consumers, which makes the site a good choice for advertisers.
YouTube/Google's closest competitor was Fox Interactive Media with only 6% of all downloads during the month. Yahoo sites accounted for 3% of video downloads.
Though there is a huge disparity between YouTube and the rest of the pack, what is most interesting is the total time that US users are spending with their favorite video sites. According to the report 139 million consumers logged on to video sites, spending more than 200 minutes each watching downloaded video clips.
The number of viewers is where the different video sites begin catching up to one another. Though more clips were downloaded through Google portals, the number of users is not that much higher than other popular sites. Google's video sites attracted 80 million unique users while Fox Interactive Media attracted 53.9 million and Yahoo sites attracted more than 35 million uniques.
