What do consumers want from a website?
With more eyeballs than ever trained on the Internet, website owners need to ensure they’re giving consumers the experience they’re after. Forrester Research recently released findings from a recent survey which asked consumers what they expect on a website.
Over 5,000 consumers participated in Forrester Research’s recent research which asked what content and functionality consumers would most like to see on websites from four industries: consumer electronics (CE), travel, banking and media.
Top of consumer lists was user ratings/reviews, with 64 percent requesting this content. In second place were coupons and special offers with 61 percent and in third product or price comparison tools with 59 percent.
Other popular features were customer testimonials (49 percent), product videos (44 percent) and the ability to subscribe to email or RSS alerts (39 percent).
While games, quizzes and content generation are popular among the Gen Y population, they aren’t top of consumer wish lists. Most, across all age groups, agreed that the ease of use of a site remains a top priority.
