Visits to magazine websites on the rise
Earlier this month, Magazine Publishers of America (MPA) released data that showed overall traffic to magazine websites grew at over three times that of the rate of growth for overall U.S. Internet traffic.
Magazine websites attracted an average of 67.5 million unique visitors each day during Q4 2007, according to analysis of Nielsen Online data by MPA. That’s an increase of just over 8% on the same period in 2006. In comparison, overall Internet traffic rose by just 2.4% in Q4 2007.
“Magazines have long been masters at attracting consumers to their print pages, and now they are doing the same for the web audience, creating branded digital experiences through compelling content, innovative applications and robust communities,” said Nina Link, President and Chief Executive Officer, MPA.
The digital experiences being offered by magazine websites are obviously keeping Internet user’s eyeballs focused. There was a 5.5% increase in the amount of time spent on magazine websites to over 1.78 billion minutes per month during Q4 2007, compared with Q4 2006.
