Travel Ad Network expands to Canada, UK
Online publishers may get a boost from vertical advertising network, Travel Ad Network (TAN), with its expansion into Canada and the UK. TAN allows access to online travel ad inventory; the company launched in the US in 2003.
"We have some of the most exciting and most-visited Canadian and UK-centric travel sites in our portfolio, so it is a very natural extension of our business to help our publishers better monetize their overseas traffic," said Cree Lawson, Founder and CEO of TAN. "With the continued weakness of the dollar, we are seeing more and more tourists coming from Canada and the UK for value-driven vacations. Being able to precisely target them will of great interest to airlines, hotels and attractions."
TAN offers ads on travel and destination websites throughout the US and already delivers 10.5 million unique users each month in the US; they have 15 million uniques worldwide.
In Canada, TAN serves up 15 million monthly ad impressions and in the UK delivers 14 million ad impressions.
More consumers are beginning to buy their travel accommodations - flights, hotel bookings and resort packages - online. In America, online bookings outweigh offline bookings with more than half of travelers purchasing online. Similar trends are seen worldwide, with search pushing most of the traffic to travel websites. Users will search for a destination name or a low ticket price and land on travel websites from there.
