comScore: UK rankings released
Travel and career websites saw the biggest increases in unique visitors in January, according to comScore’s recently released rankings of the U.K.'s largest and fastest-growing Internet properties and site categories.
comScore’s January rankings, based on data from their World Metrix audience measurement service, saw travel- and career-related websites as the top traffic gainers.
The car rental category took top spot with an increase of 80% from December 2007, to January 2008, followed by career resources and job search, both with 67% increase.
Two travel websites, First Choice Holiday PLC and TUI Group, both had over 100% growth in traffic, with 140% and 122% respectively, as the British public pack up their Christmas decorations and turn their thoughts to summer vacations.
British Airways also experienced a large increase in traffic, rising from around 3.5 million in December 2007 to 4.5 million in January this year.
The usual suspects occupied the top spots in the top 25. Google led the pack, followed by Microsoft sites in second, eBay in third, Yahoo fourth and BBC sites in fifth.
