Advertisers can go green with new ad network

Online marketers have a new way to target consumers interested in living a greener lifestyle. According to company information SustainLane's Green Advertising Network has seen record traffic numbers to their green publishing websites.

In January 2008 the network of websites saw more than 13 million unique users log on to the green sites and served up more than 58 million ad impressions.

"Consumers continue to show a high level of interest in information about green and healthy living topics which creates increased traffic for our publishing partners," said Christine Volden, SustainLane Vice President of Sales and Business Development.

The traffic growth was triggered by the addition of high-traffic sites like the Environment News Service, GLiving.com and iHanuman.com. There are more than 50 green or healthy living content sites within the network, which gives brand marketers a huge amount of content with which to advertise.

Green advertising has become a buzzword in the past 12 months, especially in the United State, but some research indicates that consumers are creating greener lifestyles with very small first steps. Some research also indicates that consumers hold their favorite brands to higher standards and that if they learn that a brand has been dishonest or deceptive with their green status it can irreparably harm the brand. So, before launching that first green campaign, be certain that your business is ready for close scrutiny.
