Marchex, Idearc launch joint local ad agreement

Local advertisers now have a helping hand from two local advertising experts. Marchex, a local advertising and content producer, and Idearc, a classified advertising company, have joined together to help local advertisers better reach their target markets.

"Marchex's local network is an excellent source of targeted traffic and broad geographic coverage for Superpages.com's local advertisers," said Eric Chandler, President - Internet for Idearc Media. "We are excited to be partnering with a local leader like Marchex to expand our local distribution."

The agreement will place Idearc's ads on Marchex's content pages, giving local advertisers access to local content. Marchex and Idearc will use the Enhance Interactive ad platform, which will serve ads on the content sites; the platform also offers advertisers access to search engines and other online publishers.

Content is a fast-growing buzzword for online marketers. Users aren't content any longer to simply learn about products or services. They want to be know how products work in very specific circumstances. With the advent of social networking websites, this content has become more readily available and now marketers are beginning to create their own content. By offering new or updated content on websites via RSS or other feeds, marketers can keep their websites near the top of search results pages and can keep users coming back time after time.

More than 25 million unique users log on to the more than 150,000 websites owned by the Marchex network.
