Toys made in China off Christmas shopping lists
PriceGrabber.com’s latest Consumer Behavior Report throws up some interesting results for e-tailers, including an increased sensitivity to a product’s country of manufacture.
U.S. e-tailers need to pay special attention to where their products originate, because their customers certainly are. In fact, 69 percent of respondents to a survey by PriceGrabber.com said they will not purchase any toy products manufactured in China. U.S. manufacturers could be in for a busy holiday season with nearly three-quarters of respondents, 73 percent, preferring the products they purchase to be made in the U.S.
Report highlights include:
- 61 percent of online shoppers expect to shop and buy more online this holiday season.
- The majority of men, 37 percent, said they preferred online shopping because of the potential savings and ability to compare prices.
- The majority of women, 36 percent, liked the convenience of shopping online.
- 42 percent of males and 41 percent of females said the gift they most anticipated purchasing or receiving would be found in the Home Entertainment category.
- Overall, the most anticipated gift categories for the upcoming holiday season were Home Entertainment (34 percent), Clothing (25 percent) and Gift Vouchers (20 percent).
