Survey: Americans can live without mobiles
Results from the latest American Pulse survey from BIGresearch may come as a surprise to advertisers. According to the survey, parents say they know their kids best, they can survive without a mobile and would be great candidates for the reality hit "Survivor".
With so many Americans feeling self-sufficient, it appears advertisers may want to change their approach to some ads.
Let's take a deeper look at the results.
The survey asked 4,043 Americans about their children and their habits. Here is what the respondents had to say.
More than 90% of females said they know their kids best but only 44% of men said the same thing. Less than 1% of men and women said babysitters or daycare providers knew their children best.
Just over 50% of those surveyed said they would stop to help someone being attacked but 27% said it would depend on whether or not a weapon was being used. Just over 20% said they wouldn't stop to help but they would call for help.
Americans also feel like survivors. According to the survey, 65% of Americans said they would be fine if they were stranded in the wilderness alone for three days. Only about 26% said they weren't sure what would happen if they were stranded.
And speaking of being stranded, almost 50% of Americans said they would fare fine without their mobile devices, though the younger respondents would worry without a cell phone. According to the results, 46.5% of adults wouldn't worry about not having a cell phone but of the 18-34 age group 25% said they would "become anxious" if disconnected and 24% admitted they could only be disconnected for short periods of time.
