BrandTV makes sharing video simple
Online marketers will likely latch on to a new offering from video provider TheNewsMarket.com. Their new video player, called BrandTV, allows advertisers to more easily distribute video news releases of their products.
Video news releases are basically press releases with video attached that content providers can use on their websites.
The player allows videos to be syndicated and also has a widget type embedding feature so that users can share streams more easily. Television news producers, company investors and even employees can pick up the streams. Though nearly anyone can watch and pick up the feed, the platform still gives marketers control over what is seen and how it is seen through video.
Television news producers will likely be the biggest market segment to use the platform because of the amount of airtime they have to fill every day. However, online blog and vlog publishers may also be quick to sign on because their readers are thirsty for more content.
According to a recent comScore report, US users watched 3 hours of online video in July. Americans downloaded more than 9 billion videos from video platforms like Google (27%), Yahoo (4%) and Fox (3%). The shorter the video clip the more likely it is to be viewed, at least for now, with the average downloaded vid clip said to be under 3 minutes.
News clips and entertainment clips (comedy spoofs, movie trailers or television previews) are the most commonly watched online videos, so there is a market for platforms like BrandTV.
