GodTube.com U.S.'s fastest growing website
Christian-oriented websites are cropping up all the time, but recently strives have been made by religious websites to move in to the online social and video space.
GodTube is, as you’d expect, a Christian version of YouTube. It broadcasts over 800,000 hours of user-generated video and attracts millions of unique visitors a month. comScore recently found GodTube to be the fastest growing U.S. website in its first month of launch.
"This month we had 3 million unique visitors to GodTube, and next month we are projected to double that," said Christopher Wyatt, GodTube CEO, speaking in August this year. "We are there to serve the 4 billion people seeking faith on the Internet."
The child-friendly site, on which every video is moderated by a real person, hopes to draw youngsters back into the church. Young people in the U.S. aren’t attending church in the numbers they used to, yet over 82 million Americans use the Internet for religious reasons.
"We are talking to kids in a language they understand and they are reaching out for it," said Wyatt.
A Christian social network, started approximately one year ago, has also seen strong growth. MyChurch.org, the MySpace of Christian websites, found that 10,000 churches recognize that social networking enhances the conventional Sunday morning gathering.
