Invest in SEO says Chartered Institute of Marketing
The Chartered Institute of Marketing in the U.K has recently claimed what most online marketers already know - that search engine optimization is “vital” for business websites.
Without investment in SEO, online businesses will struggle to generate the traffic it needs to survive. This revelation is provided by the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the U.K.
"Although there will always be those who accidentally stumble across your web site, if you are looking to attract new customers you need to invest in search engine optimisation to drive customers to your web site," said David Thorp, CIM director of research and information, via DirectTraffic.org. “We are all familiar with the term "Google it", which reflects the near universal use of search engines such as Google when searching on the internet.”
The Internet Advertising Bureau valued the U.K.’s 2006 online industry at just over $2 billion. However, less than a fifth (18 percent) of British SME’s are selling online, according to figures from the Federation of Small Businesses.
