Hitwise election center will track political websites

With just over a year before the next presidential election in the United States, politicians are hitting the pavement and the world wide web. To help clear the air surrounding many of the new sites, online metrix firm Hitwise has launched a data center for political websites.

With more and more users turning to the Internet to find out about candidates and political issues, it makes sense that Hitwise would begin to build metrics. The new database could also help advertisers find new places for their campaigns. High traffic to a blogger's site or a website focused on different platforms could indicate a new or opening market for advertisers.

Earlier this year, DoubleClick completed a study that indicated upwards of 40% of adults research political candidates and issues online. The majority of these users are between the ages of 18 and 34 and also use the Internet as a source of news and information.

Properly targeting the users who frequent political websites could result in a revenue boost for advertisers, especially as more and more users begin researching the election issues, candidates and platforms.

I am cancelling subscription to cnn- I am objective enough to see that the over- riding tone of your commentaries is NOT OBJECTIVE. Look in the mirror when you speak re Obama as choice for President- and then compare how sarcastic you are re Clinton.JOURNALISTS!!
