Growth in revenue, traffic for IAC

Along with a 6% revenue increase for Q2, InteractiveCorp (IAC) has seen a substantial increase in traffic to several of its websites. Much of the revenue increase was led by IAC's e-tailing sites, but search was also a big factor in the Q2 results.

iac.gifAccording to IAC the site ServiceMagic showed the strongest growth. ServiceMagic saw a 51% increase in customer service requests and a 21% increase in service providers. Meanwhile online ticketing source TicketMaster showed only modest growth. TicketMaster showed a 1% increase in volume but a 2% decline in the price per ticket.

IAC Chairman and CEO Barry Diller said the downturn from TicketMaster was one area that would receive a lot of attention in the coming months. “While we expected this quarter to be difficult, we did not anticipate the softness in domestic ticketing volumes which impacted Ticketmaster," he said.

After retailing, IAC saw strong growth in online search. According to research from Nielsen//Netratings, Ask.com accounted for more than 152 million searches in Q2, My Web Search accounted for 76 million searches and My Way search accounted for roughly 35 million searches. On the local front, CitySearch accounted for nearly 4.5 million local searches and Excite Search accounted for 4.1 million local searches.
