Walmart.com launches product review feature
After the discovery that their most-requested online feature was the ability to review and rate products, Walmart.com has given its customers what they want and updated the online store's capabilities.
Shoppers on Walmart.com can now review and rate products sold on the online store after the introduction of the new feature on Thursday this week. A test of the system in June proved successful and the reviews received during that period have now been added to the live system.
Customers submit reviews by visiting Walmart.com product pages. To further encourage feedback, invitations to post reviews will be emailed to customers after they have taken delivery of their purchase.
"We know close to 75 percent of Wal-Mart's 130 million customers are online which presents a significant opportunity for our online reviews and ratings platform to connect our customers to one another, and also help them further engage, communicate, share opinions, and learn more about products available at Wal-Mart," said Cathy Halligan, Walmart.com's chief marketing officer.
Halligan went on to explain that Walmart.com could foresee using the reviews, and the reviewers themselves, to plan future products and services.
"We will use those customer reviews and ratings to be able to provide more direct information about how our customers feel and make decision on a case-by-case basis," she said.
