Google and Yahoo lose out to Quigo
Time Inc. has teamed up with online advertising company Quigo to provide a performance-based ad platform for its online properties.
Quigo’s ‘AdSonar’ technology will be used across Time Inc.’s magazine websites, announced Quigo’s blog yesterday. Google and Yahoo previously handled Time’s contextual ads between them.
Quigo is renowned for its transparency of reporting and, despite its relatively small size, is chosen over Google or Yahoo by many large online media companies including ESPN.com, Forbes.com and FoxNews.com. Their ‘AdSonar’ technology allows advertisers to target ads contextually with specific keywords, by website section or by individual webpage.
"This partnership is a milestone for Quigo and a clear trend we see in the online advertising industry where sophisticated media companies are increasingly demanding more tailored and innovative monetization solutions," said Mike Yavonditte, Quigo's CEO.
Recognizing the demand for control and transparency, Google recently introduced placement performance reports so that, as per Quigo, advertisers can see where their ads have appeared along with site performance metrics.
The partnership is expected to raise ad revenues to over $100 million over the first three years.
